The new Opel Grandland X will become the first plug-in hybrid model to be offered from the German manufacturer, unveiled by Michael Lohscheller, Opel’s CEO at the Frankfurt motor show.

The new Opel Grandland X is based on the same platform with the Peugeot 3008 and will be offered initially with two engine options: a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol with 130 PS (128 hp) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque and a 1.6-litre diesel with 120 PS (118 hp) and 300 Nm (221 lb-ft) of torque.

Lohscheller announced that Opel is going to expand the new Grandland X’s range not only with a range-topping diesel version paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission but also a plug-in hybrid version as well, which likely share technology with Peugeot’s own 3008 PHEV.
