Vehicles will undergo testing in U.S. and Europe

Mobileye, an Israeli technology company recently acquired by Intel, is preparing to deploy a fleet of autonomous vehicles around the world.

The first vehicles arrive later this year, and the fleet will eventually scale to more than 100 cars. These will be sourced from a variety of automotive brands. The U.S., Israel, and Europe will serve as testing grounds for these highly automated vehicles.

“Geographic diversity is very important as different regions have very diverse driving styles as well as different road conditions and signage,” Mobileye boss Amnon Shashua said in a release. “Our goal is to develop autonomous vehicle technology that can be deployed anywhere, which means we need to test and train the vehicles in varying locations.”
