Renault has just presented the second generation of the Captur, which will be launched at the turn of the year and will be supplemented by a plug-in hybrid version in 2020. This will be Renault’s first plug-in hybrid, with other models to follow soon.

Renault already announced the corresponding E-TECH modular hybrid system at the Geneva Motor Show and is now naming further details on the PHEV version, which combines a 1.6-litre petrol engine with two electric motors and a 9.8 kWh battery. Battery capacity is one of the few details provided by the French carmaker. So far, no figures on the performance of the petrol engine, the electric motors and the system as a whole have been released.
