The French car manufacturer PSA intends to assemble the battery packs for electric and hybrid cars of its Peugeot, Citroën and DS brands at its Trnava (Slovakia) plant and later also at its Vigo (Spain) plant.

The Peugeot e-208, among other things, is manufactured in Trnava. The company also expects to assemble battery packs in some of its other factories in the future as soon as sales of electric cars increase, said Peugeot manager Yann Vincent. PSA currently purchases its battery cells from the South Korean company LG Chem and the Chinese supplier CATL.

While the production paths for the e-208 in Slovakia tend to be shorter, the production of the Opel Corsa-e is different: More than 800 kilometers lie between the planned battery assembly plant in Vigo on the Atlantic coast in eastern Spain and the Opel plant in Zaragoza.
