ABB is to install fast-charging stops in Norway at existing petrol stations run by what was formerly Statoil, now Circle K. The latter is making a business case to turn gas stations into “energy stations” across the country.

The solution Circle K opted for is one of ABB’s latest fast-charging equipment series, the Terra High Power with 175 kW and Terra 54 CJG with 50 kW. The chargers offer a future proof solution and can be upgraded to deliver 350 kW for high power charging if needed. This will allow electric vehicle batteries to be charged with enough power to travel 200 kilometres in just 8 minutes, claims the Swiss company.

ABB did not specify the number of stations ordered by Circle K, only that they are to be delivered by April 2019. The stations will connect to ABB Ability, a web-enabled connectivity service that allows e-mobility charging network operators to perform several functions, including remote monitoring and configuring of charging points to resolve driver issues.
